XBox 360 Controllers and MAME

Maybe someone can help me with this... I'm trying to get an XBox 360 Madcatz SE SFIV Fightstick to work with MAME on my PC.
Windows 7 OS 64 bit
WolfMame V .106

I have a PS3 controller, the exact same model, and it works fine, you just map the buttons as you would normally at the TAB options screen.
However this XBox 360 version doesn't want to work. I installed the fancy little drivers and program from Microsoft.
The PC recognizes the controller, in MAME Default Game Properties < Controllers tab, it shows up in the controller ID layout section.
The controller maps with the KEGA Fusion emulator just fine. It just won't work with my MAME installation for some reason.

What am I missing here?

Hmm.. I think I have the answer.
I think this is the issue:

There is a reason that I always use V.106 and I'm not planning on switching anytime soon.
However... on the latest build (V.145) the Xbox controller maps just fine, So it must just be incompatible with .106 :(
